The bandages are more stifling than she'd remembered them to be, carrying echoing reminders of the nurses and doctors who'd looked after her. Maybe it's because she had been forced to stay in bed for the most part that they hadn't nagged at her. But the moment she was allowed out, they'd piled don'ts after don'ts upon her.[break][break]

Unlike always, she is not accompanied by a certain Luxray. A Comfey around her wrist and a Doublade kept at her waist are more than enough company, especially given her plans for the day -[break][break]

Scrounging around the ashen remains of a cottage she once called home, in hopes of finding anything that survived. Pure white bandages are quickly stained with the regrettable past, broken wood and shattered glass carefully picked and placed to the side as she continues to dig through the pile of what was once Isaac's room.[break][break]

There's probably nothing left.[break][break]

A ghost speaks from a distance. Lingering a bit away, Chu-e watched Eris Halla as she fumbles in the wreckage of her home.[break][break]

Again, of course. How many times was it, now, that she had a home ripped from her grasp?[break][break]

But, ever the hypocrite, Chu-e's own hands are stained brown and black with ash and dust and dirt. A few beads of red catch in the light, blood from his own scrapes from doing just what she had been doing. Charred and barely held together beaded bracelet in hand. One Eris might recognize.

Pause. That voice is like a bell that rings oh so clearly amidst all the ash and dirt. Pulls her eye upwards to look at the ghost. A fragment of her past melding into what had been not too long ago.[break][break]

"You're the one with cuts." Some way, somehow, her body moves. Towards him, without the slightest hint of hesitation. As if everything that had once stopped her had been burned up with the rest of her home. And she reaches for his hand, tries to take ahold of it to check the wound.

There is a hesitance there. A frightened deer, a wounded rabbit. Chu-e seems like he might flinch and run away from Eris Halla once more.[break][break]

Instead, he allows her to take his hand, to uncurl it and see the small cuts and bruises on thin fingertips.[break][break]

His hand is cold. Chu-e's nails, so carefully painted over, have chipped; dead black crystal peers up at her. A reminder of Eris' cursed younger sibling.[break][break]

"You don't need to worry about me." But the protest is so light it may as well not even be spoken.

"I slept with him last night." His face pinches at how that sounds. It was entirely innocent. Instead of correcting himself, Chu-e shakes it off and pushes forward. The realization of his answer only brings questions to his mind. "Wait. How do you know Howard?"

The exhaustion that already lines her face does well in hiding whatever else that crosses her mind. In her head, the two somehow had a slumber party despite the state of Petalburg. There really isn't any other way she takes the sentence. If Chu-e had managed to sleep with howard slayte, she can at least take comfort in the fact that the man has slept.[break][break]

"We're..." She stops. "We were friends." She corrects with a pained smile. "I don't know if we are anymore..."
